Mike Moran earned his BS in painting  from Eastern Montana College and his  MFA from the University of Puget Sound. He is a painter, a print maker and a sculptor, though he is better known for his ceramic work. He does figurative sculpture by applying pigmented cement to bent steel armatures. He also applies stains, and he etches, burnishes, and scratches his surfaces.  Animal and spiritual mystery run through Moran's work. In Oregon he first showed at the Contemporary Crafts Gallery in 1982, he had a show at the Portland Art Museum in 1987, showed at Margo Jacobsen Gallery and shows at the White Bird Gallery today.
